We have 2 kids at ES-LA and thank the universe for this school every day! Finally a school that walks the walk. Middle School and High Schools are diverse, socially responsible, liberal in the best way, and wonderfully academic without pressuring the kids unnecessarily. The Deans and Teachers are emotionally invested in each kid succeeding and being happy. Both of my kids are so happy here. One week into school my son said, "Mom, I've found my people!" After being bullied for so long he is in heaven here. And my daughter is getting the finest High School education I've seen in any school in LA.

Going to ESLA is definitely a unique experience. It’s a tiny school so the community is definitely tight knit. This makes it so that students develop strong bonds with one another and with teachers as well. This sense of community is strengthened by the school’s episcopal identity(kids of most religions are found at ESLA but the chapel services held every week are a nice way of getting the whole school to come together). The humanities at ESLA are fantastic with an incomparable faculty and curriculum. The science and math department has had a few rough patches but is definitely becoming stronger as the school continues to grow. The school is lacking in the Language department: They only offer Spanish and has had inconsistent faculty in that field. While ESLA offers some sports, we are not a sports school - I would not recommend for serious athletes who are interested in competitive highschool sports. Overall I love ESLA and am so glad I came here for highschool.
I have had the absolute best experience here at ESLA. The community life is inclusive and diverse which makes my everyday school experience amazing. I love all my teachers and friends, and the academics are my favorite part. Highly recommend this school!
