I had a terrible competitive and impersonal experience at my local public school. I switched to Doane Stuart and found myself welcomed by faculty that cared not just about educating me, but also my well-being. The college admissions preparation is top-notch and super individualized (I seriously doubt I'd be as happy with my college choice having essentially done everything myself at my public school). Nonetheless, the most important aspect of this school is its community which, even among the kids, is far slower to judge and far more welcoming than many other institutions.

Great school and experience. Transferred my Junior year and was provided education of a lifetime and preparation for college. Great college counseling and personal support during college process from college trips to interview help. Amazing teachers and people who help me til this day!
I absolutely loved my experience at Doane, although this happens to be due to the time I joined. I am currently a Senior at Doane, but have been attending since seventh grade. Unfortunately, at the end of my freshman year, more than a handful of the teachers and faculty left. My belief is this was due to a change in the Head of the School, resulting in a lower income for our teachers. Ever since this change appeared, more and more teachers have been leaving. Part of what made DS so special was the amount of truly caring and ambitious teachers, but now there are less than a handful of teachers like that left. In the past years, the school has not handled serious situations properly, which has been a large concern for students and parents. With the recent changes that have been made to the school, me and my class included can all agree that none of us would take back our experience at Doane, but none of us would want to be any of the younger students at the school now.
