The Derryfield School Reviews
Rating 3.81 out of 5 85 reviews
Our daughter is a sophomore and absolutely loves her teachers, classes, coaches, classmates, sports teams, music, singing, theatre and student leadership activities. It is an excellent, student- and community-centric school with an inclusive, positive culture. There is a morning, early and late afternoon bus to the seacoast and various other locations attracting students from NH and Mass. A wonderful school with really fantastic, caring teachers - most with masters and PhD's. The teachers and leaders of the school and the caring community they create are the reasons we are there. During covid, their caring, science-centric protocols were topnotch led by an epidemiologist. This is a very caring, positive school.
School is a business and cares about profits and marketing. They will listen to the invisible hand and do whatever the wealthy students want. In my time there (4 years) I witnessed several sexual assault cases be brushed over due to the student having connections and money. As well I saw several students be suspended and expelled over little or nothing due to the influence of students with money pressing the matter. The teachers themselves are good and the school pushes to step outside one's comfort zone. However, as previously mentioned the administration and underlying agenda of the school is so strong it ruins the integrity and value of this place.
The Derryfield School is an educational oasis where academic and personal growth are prioritized above all else and students are encouraged to live lives of passion and purpose. The faculty and staff are paramount and students are extremely driven and motivated. The social culture is a positive and accepting one and college preparation is comprehensive and expertly specialized to each student's unique goals. It is a pleasure to attend The Derryfield School, I cannot recommend it enough for you or your child!
