As a parent of three current students at DS, I can attest to the competitive academics in a small classroom setting that allows teachers to individualize and meet the needs of all their students. Teachers are masters of the subjects they teach and this knowledge and passion shows through. I love the required two sports requirement that engages students outside the classroom. Everyone is included - both novice and varsity athletes. Due to the fact that athletic teams tend to be small, varsity athletes are extremely tolerate of beginners and really teach them to be better players. The school has embraced "One School, One Team" and encourages students to attend and support all the athletic teams. What I probably have enjoyed the most about my children's time at Derryfield is the embracement of the total student. Students are encouraged to "do it all"; academics, community service, athletics, global education and the arts. It is a school where it is easy to thrive!

I did all four years of high school at Derryfield. Stand out experiences would be that the college counselor told me that he thought college wasn't the right choice for me...I now have a bachelors and attend law school...One of the english teachers told me that she couldn't help me and I should drop to a lower class during the first week. I will openly say I hated my time here, but college was incredibly easy due to it's academics. If you can deal with the teachers, administrators, and students, the school is worth it, if not, look somewhere else.
I absolutely love all of the opportunities derryfield offers! Whether it's global trips, volunteering at the local daycare or helping immigrant families in transition, the experiences derryfield students are encouraged to take part in are life changing.

The part of derryfield I wish could change is how some students who are very fortunate to attend this school don't try as hard because they know that no matter what they're grades are they have the connections to get into good colleges.
