The school could definitely stand to be more diverse in a lot of ways; for example, it could improve its ethnic diversity and admit more students from low-income backgrounds. It's also quite small, and this can feel very insular at times. However, the teachers are some of the most caring human beings I have ever met, and the school continues to feel like a home even after you graduate. I think anyone who goes here will receive an excellent education that will take them far in life, but they would also do well to remember that there's a far bigger world out there beyond its walls (and to interact with it more). Oh, and many of the students here are middle schoolers or early high schoolers--sometimes it can feel like older students are glossed over a little bit when it comes to creating special events or opportunities for them. Overall, though, this school is excellent, and I think all of these problems are definitely solvable.

The Davidson Academy is an excellent place to work. The students are fun and respectful. It is rewarding to see our graduates move on to colleges and universities throughout the country and the world. The Academy is having a positive impact on profoundly gifted students and hopefully the future. Many times, the students remark that the Academy is the first time they have felt academically challenged.
I love attending this school... It's a very accepting community, and the academics are unparalleled. Safety measures can be a little intense, but everyone seemingly understands why they're in place and is tolerant of it. I came in as a ninth grader behind a year in school, so it was a very stressful adjustment, but most students don't have that experience. My only wish is that I'd started earlier!
