The Connect Charter School Reviews

Connect was very strong academically. It prepared me well for the ACT, SAT, and NHD. Because we went out to eat once a week, Connect gave me many social skills. Connect lacked both a proper music program and a physical education program; however, the frequent walking field trips to restaurants, the ice rink, and the bowling alley provided a good substitute.

It taught me certain life skills that have helped my high school experience become easier.
Connect's strict formula works for some students, but it is not flexible at all. If a child is ill, they must do all the work--no zeros--even if they are in the hospital, unconscious. If they don't understand a concept, the rest of the class moves on and the "slow" child goes to tutoring, but their teacher may not be assigned that day, so they still may not get help. The school is only for the "brightest" students, but even smart kids not succeed because older kids monopolize the teacher's time (the classes are mixed grades). Kids are required to earn points for participation. Teachers keep track. But it's impossible for everyone to make a comment in the limited time. If the entire class needs more time on a topic--too bad. It's not the teachers' fault. It is just the way the system is set up. They would say they are not for everyone, but that doesn't fix these problems that are real.
