The Colony is open to everyone, we do things in 18 weeks, and have collegiate courses and AP classes. We work at a faster pace while keeping up with the 9 weeks, not only that, but we also have something called “Huddle” which goes over therapeutic questions and serious topics in our life’s, such as suicide, sexting, red ribbon week, drugs, and cyber bullying. The counselors are absolutely fantastic and actually help students, such as myself, in finding courses that’s best for students, and scholarships best for them as well. It’s a terrific school, with a good amount of diversity, with very different and great clubs, the sports and programs for the sports are fantastic, ranging from football to golf and the teachers there are actually happy to be there and teach. My experience here has only been positive and I hope it keeps getting higher, my expectations have been met and just keep getting met after another. I love it here and I’m sure anyone coming in will too.
Although some people dismiss TCHS while looking at the other high schools in LISD, it provides amazing opportunities for students of all backgrounds. I personally have been involved with the Collegiate Academy and am on track to graduate high school with my associates degree next spring. For students who want to lean towards entrepreneurship, the Incubator program allows students to start that path early by creating a business and giving them a chance to secure a grants and mentorship from local community members. These are just a couple of the amazing opportunities available at TCHS that you might want to consider if you are considering moving to The Colony.
I had an amazing experience as a student at The Colony High School. The teachers and administrators always put the students first and did what was best for us. It was a very positive learning journey for me as I had the opportunity to be in the Collegiate Academy. This program allowed me to graduate with my high school diploma along with an associates degree. Taking dual credit classes furthered my learning abilities and encouraged me to work harder in a different environment than my regular high school classes. I was also on the drill team which helped me build amazing bonds with all the girls and we had an outstanding coach to help lead. This school has so many clubs, organizations, and programs that anyone can be a part of and feel like they have a place. The Colony High School is just an overall, all around amazing environment for a student to grow and learn in.
