The College School Reviews

The College School is an educational resource unique to St. Louis, the Midwest, and experiential education. Students learn through a curriculum rich in activities and subsequent reflection. Sounds a little out there? It is! These students study ecosystems in nature, not just in books. They study cultures by engaging in the rich historical resources St. Louis communities offer. They learn astronomy from locations far from the city lights. Students write. They journal from their own perspectives. They research subjects selected and organized into themes by brilliant teachers. The overwhelming majority of graduates enter their first choice high school ready for the challenge of college prep courses. I'm grateful for the experiences my boys have had at TCS and genuinely believe this academic setting has contributed to their perspectives that learning can, and should, occur outside of the pages of a book and beyond the walls of a school.

The College school has been a positive experience for my 3 boys. Specifically the middle school program has been wonderful for them, a time of school that is often difficult in many other schools. The experiential learning part of the program really helps them see how to use what they learn in the real world. The curriculum is engaging and challenges them to do their best be it in Math and English or an elective class such as Circus Skills or Culture Clash. Additionally the teachers take the time to notice the special things about each student that makes them shine! It really has been a positive environment for my boys!
I have 2 children currently at The College School (2019) and 1 starting next year. We feel so blessed to be a part of this community. The parent involvement is amazing and the teachers are unlike any we have encountered elsewhere. Their approach to learning is unique and effective - all classroom learning is reinforced with experiences that build upon the curriculum. My children have grown in confidence and have respect for our planet and each other. These teachers turn every experience into a learning opportunity to help my kids become better learners, friends, and community members.
