Our experience at The Co-Op School has been truly incredible. We have seen both our 2-year-old and Kindergartner thrive during their time there. Kindergarteners partake in Forest School where they learn and play outside. The additional resources like Spanish, Creative Making, Movement, and Theater provide an incredibly enriching program for elementary students. In preschool, there is so much to do! The 2s play outside almost every day and have lots of independent and collaborative play with teachers and with one another. There is also support for parents around how to help deal with some of the more difficult aspects of raising littles. The one thing I notice the most about Co-Op School is that all the kids are really happy. They are playing and smiling and taking care of each other and it's amazing to see. To have consistent in-person learning during the Covid pandemic has been life-changing for our family. We are beyond happy and so grateful for this special place!
Our son did his pre-K 3s and 4s at The Co-Op School. If we weren't moving out of state, he would have stayed longer. I can't possibly capture in words how much we've loved this community. For starters, it's been a challenging couple of years to say the least, given social unrest, global pandemic, and school closures. Despite the drama, the teachers and administrators remained totally dedicated to ensuring we - both students and parents - felt supported and prepared to address sensitive topics with our young ones. I felt an immense sense of pride when my 4 yr old learned about the importance of equality, the purpose of peaceful protests, and how to make a protest sign. Most of all, I felt great relief to see how my son is flourishing - truly loving school - despite the masks, plexiglass, etc. I am forever grateful to everyone at this school for making my son feel loved, supported, and challenged. He's grown into such a curious, empathetic, and confident young man. Highly recommend!
We currently have two children enrolled at The Co-Op School, the eldest of whom has been there for the past 2 years and has just entered Kindergarten. Overall, we can not say enough good things about this school: the quality of the teachers, the new leadership, their continued handling of COVID19, the new facilities, the curriculum, and perhaps most importantly the overall community. Before joining Co-Op our daughter attended a much more expensive progressive private school in Brooklyn and this has been a hands down better experience!
