Beyond The Children's School

Research shows that children who remain children longer are not only healthier, happier, socially stronger, and more resilient, but they also develop better critical core competencies that lay the groundwork for academic success. TCS graduates exemplify this as they thrive in high school and college as innovative, collaborative problem-solvers who are adept at standing up for their beliefs.

We are entering our third year at TCS, and absolutely adore the school and community! We feel so lucky to have found this gem of a school, which is so unique in the Atlanta area. We love the progressive philosophy, project-based learning curriculum, diversity and focus on social-emotional learning in addition to academics. Children and childhood are truly celebrated at TCS, with students being encouraged to learn and explore in age-appropriate ways. Lots of outdoor play and interactive learning has been a hallmark of our time there, and there is very little "sit at your desk and do worksheets" type of instruction, we we love. Because of the excellent student-teacher ratio (each elementary class has two full-time teachers for roughly 22-24 children), children are able to get individualized and small group instruction and teachers are able to meet them where they are academically. We also love the range of specials offered (PE, Art, Music, STEAM lab, Library, and foreign language).

Both of my daughters started at The Children's School this year, and we could not be happier! They love going to school, and are sad when they wake up on the weekends and realize that it is not a school day. TCS is the most diverse private elementary school that you will find in Atlanta. The education is progressive, utilizing a play-based approach for the younger years, and excellent curricula like Singapore Math, Lucy Calkin's Writer's Workshop, and Explode the Code. TCS places a heavy emphasis on social and emotional development, using Responsive Classroom to guide classroom management. They believe in a lot of outdoor time, field trips, service projects, and project-based learning. We could not be happier that we found The Children's School.
The Children’s School is an amazing community of diversity, inclusion, and education. The project based learning curriculum has really helped my daughter succeed in her academics, but also in her team building, as well. Also, they have an anti-bias curriculum, which teaches our children about bias, acceptance and social justice. I love TCS!!
