My daughter attended the Charles Finney School from second to twelfth grade. She has felt that it was more than a great educational experience. She received a well rounded, high quality, challenging education that formed a solid foundation for her future learning, work and life. The teachers had high expectations for the students and willingly helped them to achieve their individual goals. My daughter participated in sports, musicals, field trips, class trips and valuable internships. The small school was a welcoming environment to new and seasoned students, parents and staff. The friendships and teacher bonds that were formed have been rich and are expected to be long lasting.

I really enjoy how friendly the students are to new people. When I first came to the school, I felt accepted by the students and integrated quickly into the class. There is definetely a warm atmosphere inside this school that can be felt by everyone. The small class sizes allow students to feel engaged and personally connect with the teacher. Teachers are always willing to go the extra mile to help students. The academics are challenging, but there are many resources to help the student succeed. There are also many activities for students to be involved, which can create long lasting friendships.
I enjoyed the Christian aspects like chapel, and bible class, but other than that, I did not enjoy the school at all. Some teachers were incredibly rude, and overall just not good at helping and teaching kids. They did not have good teaching styles, and if kids didn’t understand they would get annoyed and be rude and not help. Also, disrespect was continuous in the class and the teachers wouldn’t recognize it but let it go, which made the classes super off task. The only discipline was on clothes that were “inappropriate” and if you were chewing gum, or closed your eyes for a second and were caught “sleeping”. Teachers did nothing about stuff that actually mattered like teasing and disrespect, but only about tiny rules that didn’t matter in the long run. There are certain benefits, but there are way more cons.
