From The Calverton School

The Calverton School is a Pre-K3 through 12th grade independent school located in Southern Maryland. We are proud of our welcoming family-feel and close-knit community. The Lower School provides a strong foundation and a love of learning which carries through to our Middle and Upper Schools. Our small class sizes in all grade levels creates an individualized education where students are able to connect with one another and the faculty. Our Middle and Upper Schools have a combination of day students living in Calvert, Prince George's, Anne Arundel, and Charles Counties. Five and seven day boarding students live in our One World Residential Village tucked back on our 152 acre campus. Having students from around the US and abroad provides a globally minded culture that is diverse and inclusive. Students from across the globe travel to our school for rigorous International Baccalaureate academics, the extensive arts program, and elite athletics. We welcome you to our Calverton Family!

I have seen many positive changes at Calverton is my sons' decade + time there. The current Board and Administration "gets" it. The College Counseling is awesome and the Admissions Team is focusing on the "right" type of student (and families). The School is strong, diverse, multi-cultural, and growing. A lot of the malcontents have moved on.

For example, the Boys Varsity Soccer team won the league title last Fall (and was undefeated in league play)-the team was a really tight group w/ players from the USA (Maryland and other states), Bermuda, Cayman Islands, and Hong Kong. The Coaches are from Bermuda and England. The parents formed a great bond. It was a magical season and showed the School is a really fine light.

Calverton is a School on the rise!

We love Calverton! As a parent to a returning 6th grader and a new 9th grader, we couldn't be happier. The campus is beautiful; the athletic teams are a great mix of competition and responsibility and teamwork; the faculty is providing that closer one-on-one instruction we couldn't get in public schools. Discipline is taken seriously- another aspect we were unhappy about in public schools. And our children are both challenged to work on projects that interest them. Calverton is a great place to send your child!
I am a parent of a Calverton grad and a Calverton senior. Both had the choice between Calverton and the local public school and they chose Calverton and have been happy with their choice. Graduates of the upper school are more than prepared for college. The education experience here is excellent. They enforce rules and are not shy about discipline although they are not heavy-handed. It is a small community and the kids get very tight. The sports programs, especially soccer and lacrosse for both boys and girls are great for a school this size. If you like a smaller community, outstanding academics and the opportunity for lots of family involvement in your child's school community this would be a good fit.
