Branson is wonderful school. It's academically challenging, but the teachers and faculty go above and beyond to support the student's success. Our son had an amazing experience throughout his four years at Branson. Some ups and downs? Of course, but all teaching moments for our teens!

Great arts and music program, competitive sports, and a gorgeous campus!

Great teachers and administration care about students,"get" who they are. Very developed, funded music, art, "outsiders" seem not to know this about Branson.Beautiful campus.Head of school, Chris:marvel, progressive, fair, hope she survives onslaught of some of the obnoxious, entitled parents, who feel comfortable challenging, bulldozing her.Terrific prep for college.Son is natural born, disciplined learner, getting As and A+ in two majors--engineering school and Arts and Sciences--in one of the finest colleges in the country. Says he stands on shoulders of his Branson teachers, who also encouraged his writing, fine arts talent. School needs to do MUCH better at marketing itself, if they want to attract the intellectual treasures that come from East Bay. Weaknesses: admit some students/siblings who are weak (parent clout/money), academically and provincialism among some parents, some of whom were confused, bothered by my son's art project for which he received a county-wide award.
California has a number of top-rated schools that offer outstanding academics and highly motivated students. Many of those schools also offer a pressure cooker culture, and packs of anxious kids. What differentiates Branson from the rest is that has somehow manages to twin a challenging academic experience with a warm, relatively relaxed environment. This is also a place where kids get a "B" without having a nervous breakdown. This is no small achievement, especially these days!

What we're also thrilled with Branson's new administration, who in just a couple of years has managed to dramatically improve the student body with regards to all forms of diversity. The classes coming in are more diverse--37% of the 2018-2019 freshman class self-identify as students of color--and, at least as important, are generally pretty nice. The school is only getting better.

Yes, it's in Marin, which is kind of a pain for us. But it's been worth it. Check it out.
