The Branson School Reviews
Rating 4.47 out of 5 85 reviews
We have been so impressed by Branson! The faculty and staff are amazing, and the academics are challenging but come with an enormous support system that ensures all of the kids "get it." The college counseling team at Branson is phenomenal. Our eldest daughter graduated last year and got into one of the top-three universities in the country in her preferred major. Her first semester of college is challenging, but she feels that Branson prepared her well. Our younger daughter just started at Branson and is doing very well. As a family of color, our experience is that Branson is very inclusive. Both of our girls just feel part of the Branson community. While many schools promote diversity in their brochures, Branson's culture, for the most part, celebrates each student for exactly who they are.
Our child started this school with the highest of hopes, only to much later realize that it has evolved very little from its homogeneous, extremely wealthy, insular origins. Despite lots of useless lip service the students are socially stratified along lines of race and class, and I will let you guess what kind of kids are on top. Academic achievement is not prized here; fitting into this highly culturally specific place is. Don't get excited by those uber-selective college placements; as is the case at almost every expensive private school those are largely allotted to the children of wealthy parents who graduated from those institutions. It's not all bad: The academics are decent. There are some teachers who care. The food is good. But perhaps the greatest gift Branson gave my child is the realization that a strong sense of self can overcome even the most oppressive and demeaning environments.
Branson is wonderful school. It's academically challenging, but the teachers and faculty go above and beyond to support the student's success. Our son had an amazing experience throughout his four years at Branson. Some ups and downs? Of course, but all teaching moments for our teens!
Great arts and music program, competitive sports, and a gorgeous campus!
