Love this school. You might not. This school is for people that are Christians, that love philosophy, that are either Asian or White, and that doesn’t love to party or be “lit”. Sure, it welcomes Christians and non-Christians and I have a bunch of atheist friends that goes to this school, but some non-Christians say that they don’t feel as welcomed. The majority race of the school is Asians and Whites, so if you’re a minority, you might not feel as comfortable, but I haven’t heard any negative comments about the school from any of my few Bear Creek black friends. If you don’t love philosophy or liberal arts education, don’t come here. If you like to party hard during Friday nights, don’t come here. It’s true that there are a lot of nerds here, but it’s not true that we are all nerds. People here are very nice and welcoming. It’s a small school, you will make friends here. It’s also nice to get to know literally everybody.

The Bear Creek School has excellent teachers that teach rigorous course material exceedingly well. The teachers not only spend the time in class in order to ensure that you fully comprehend the material, they also are available after school or before school. Each teacher cares about the person they are teaching, not as a number or a grade, but they are invested in the students they teach. Other than the teachers, the facilities are astounding, with a brand new high school building. A few recommendations are to change the curricular for the Christian Studies classes in order for the school to be less intellectually Christian and shift to being comprehensively Christian.
While Bear Creek is an excellent school, it’s overrated at #6 for best private high schools in Washington. I just went through the school search and application process with my son. I visited all the top private schools in the Seattle area, and read as much data as I could find. U Prep and Northwest School should be above Bear Creek. The reporting on Niche here is somewhat suspect. For example, 12 Bear Creek students say they are looking at Harvard, but Bear Creek’s own college data has no student in the last 5 years who matriculated to Harvard. In the past 5 years, no Bear Creek student has matriculated to Columbia, Yale, Cornell, MIT, or U. of Chicago. To be fair, Bear Creek students have attended many other top universities (e.g. Stanford, Rice). But on the whole, Northwest School and U Prep (not to mention Lakeside, Overlake, Seattle Academy) send a higher number of students to Ivy League schools than Bear Creek does. Why is Bear Creek rated above Northwest School and U Prep?
