The Bay School of San Francisco Reviews
Rating 4.15 out of 5 88 reviews
Our son graduated from Bay and is now attending a competitive UC school. Despite the difficulties created by the pandemic year, Bay still managed to foster a learning environment that kept students interested and motivated. To be honest, Bay graduates are much better prepared than many students not because of "what they learn" but because the teachers get them to care about learning. By the time they get to college, they've already been having college-level discussions and doing high-level project work, especially in the sciences. They're ready because they are curious, empathetic, and accustomed to high standards that go beyond the good grade and the high test score.
I really liked attending Bay for my 4 years of high school. Bay provided me with both a quality education and the social emotional tools I will need for college and beyond. I'm really glad I chose to go here because I always felt so welcome, at home, and cared about. The college counseling department is so helpful in making sure students have the tools they need to successfully apply to college, and it's no surprise that the majority of kids get into one of their top college choices. The food is also really good and healthy! The only huge downside is the price tag. If you have the money, I would definitely recommend sending your child here.
I loved my experience at Bay from the beginning to the end. I don't think there exists a better high school for me. Coming from a public middle school, it was a big transition, and Bay was so supportive here. The teachers truly care and go above and beyond to help students succeed, sometimes spending two hours after class to support a student whether it is with extra help or additional enrichment. College counselors are so supportive; not only did I get into my top choice schools but now that I am here I feel that it is indeed the best school for me. Clubs are thriving and so easy to start and lead, they are well-funded, and have incredible opportunities (e.g. backpacking!). Classes are challenging, hands-on and immersive -- some of my favorites were Buddhism, Gender in Literature, Science Fiction, and the entire science series. Bay is working to increase its diversity, but as a whole, the community is so strong and very welcoming of a range of students. I can't recommend it enough!
