The Anderson school is a small school with both academic challenge and a wonderful sense of community. The admissions process, which is highly selective and challenging, does not reflect the academics of the school, which are taught to every student the same way, regardless of their level. The teachers are excellent, and students learn a lot; it is overall an amazing school.

Not sure that if I had it to do over again, I would send my kid here. School works for kids who are smart, good test takers and in one way or another, "popular." Kids who don't fit those categories are not necessarily helped and encouraged; their parents are reminded that their kid may not be Anderson material. At the school graduation ceremony this year, a few of the "popular" girls sang a suite of Barry Manilow songs because that happens to be the principal's favorite singer. "Popular girls" and Barry Manilow? Give me (and my kid) a break. My kid did get into his top choice high school. He had some teachers he loved. By the standards of the school, he did very well academically. But know that it's survival of the fittest here, not a warm community. Consider if your child seems to be smart, focused and socially adept. Otherwise, reputation or no, this might not be the right school.
It's really intense and at times hectic but so worth it.
