It is a great to work at this school! Caring administrators, teachers, coaches and staff is the number 1 reason I would choose this school for my kids. It is a rigorous curiculum with all of the support necessary for students of all ages. There are competitve athletic teams on both sides of the street as well as opportunities for students of all abilities to find a sport or club that they like, The is an outstanding music theatre and art program as well.
I'm about to start my senior year at the Academies and overall I'm quite happy. The teachers are really the strong suit of the school, they care so much about student wellbeing and are always there to listen and help if you need it. It's also incredibly college-focused and the college counselors are fantastic and very helpful. They've also been understanding and generous when it comes to academic accommodations. I feel very taken care of.
The school has it's downsides, like all schools. A big downside is the requirement to do at least one sport per year, and new as of this year, 9th and 10th graders must also do another "community commitment", but I'm dodging this requirement as a senior. This isn't a popular school rule due to it taking up insane amounts of our time when we already get plenty of homework. The school also has lots of outdated facilities, especially on the boy's campus, with unreliable AC and lighting. But in general, I'm happy here.

I am currently a senior in high school, at the Albany Academies. The faculty and staff at this institution are what make showing up every day worth it. They are some of the kindest and most caring people I have ever met and I am so grateful to have had most of them as teachers. I've heard the school is going through a lot of changes right now in structure, but I am so grateful for my single-gender education through lower and middle school with a blend at the end. It gave me a space to grow into a confident student and person without the pressures that a co-ed education brings. The administration is kind of a mess right now and I hope they straighten that out because their communication with students is subpar, to say the least. Overall very good experience and I think they adequately prepared me for the real world and the college application process has been pretty easy. I have felt well supported with my college counselor, advisor, and various teachers supporting me along the way.
