Holy Cross is a private, Catholic, independent, all-girls school that has been educating “women of courage, compassion and scholarship” since 1868. As the current global health crisis has challenged schools to develop innovative and engaging methods of instruction, we are at the forefront of providing a robust educational and student life experience. We prepare girls to feel confident taking academic risks, leading their peers, and standing up for their beliefs. Our graduates are exceptionally well prepared for college and beyond. We offer a rigorous curriculum including Honors and AP courses, Project Lead the Way Engineering, and a Dual-Enrollment/Dual-Credit program with Marymount University. In our championship athletics, extensive arts, or by providing 10,000 hours of service annually, our girls do not wait for opportunity, they create it. Holy Cross girls actively participate in the learning process. They work with technology and venture into the real world to try future careers. Our girls develop practical skills that will help them succeed in college and in life. Going to the Academy of the Holy Cross, I’ve discovered who I am. I loved growing and learning with other young women and sharing different life/culture/ religious experiences with one another. One great memory that I have from Holy Cross is our Holy Cross days! Huge competition between all the grades from 9-12. At the end of the day we all come together as a community and close with a prayer. Even though traditions at Holy Cross do change I hope that everyone’s energy is in the same place! That is something I hope would never change. One thing I would like to see more from Holy Cross are more presentations and celebrations about people cultures. The Academy of the Holy Cross does a good job with celebrating but I hope that there is a little more effort. I love being apart of the celebration and talking about my heritage.

Review The Academy of the Holy Cross

My experience at the Academy of the Holy Cross is, that I came as a transfer into my junior year. The Academy was very welcoming, and though it was my first year I felt that after a few months I had already known everybody. The teachers are kind and outgoing, especially the social studies department! Now, the sports are also quite good, everyone on the teams are not only experienced, but determined to be the best. Also, the volleyball team is one of the best I’ve ever seen, and the coaches are really one of a kind! Now, the music and arts, there are many options and opportunities, and honor societies that are related to not only other departments, but the arts departments as well, that are welcome for everyone to join! Also, I would recommend taking a dance class, the dance teacher is one of the best teachers there, regardless if you don’t take one of her classes, like I don’t. Moreover, administration is great, some of the most nicest and reliable people at the Academy are there.

Holy Cross is absolutely the best place I could have spent my high school years. It is a warm and welcoming environment that encourages every student to be the best version of themself. The small class sizes encourage strong connections between each student and their classmates and teachers. I truly felt that I could sit next to any person in any class and feel comfortable, because there were no strangers, and the environment fosters friendship between everyone regardless of background. The class lines are blurred and oftentimes friendships are formed across grade levels which creates organic mentorship for younger students. Each student feels supported in everything they try, which can be seen in across-the-board attendance at sports games, performances, and competitions regardless of the student’s personal hobbies or passions. Faculty and staff members genuinely care about their students and refuse to let them fall behind. It is truly the best high school in the world.
