From The Academy at Soar

The Academy at SOAR is an adventure-based private boarding school for youth with ADHD/LDs for grades 7–12. We offer an alternative learning environment that combines academics, adventure, and life skills development to help prepare students academically, socially, and emotionally for adulthood. We are able to conduct both campus instruction as well as experiential expedition travel for our students.

Throughout the year students get to experience a traditional school setting mixed with two-week adventure travel trips. Students will gain independence and responsibility, learn life skills, while also getting to go on adventures of a lifetime. They will travel across the Eastern US with one international trip.

The Academy at SOAR is accredited by Cognia and seniors will graduate with a high school diploma. We work on a rolling admissions basis and accept applications year-round.

The Spanish Immersion course provides students with an opportunity to earn foreign language credit during the school-year summer break. This Academy at SOAR course provides a unique opportunity to learn the Spanish language through the first-hand experience, by being immersed in the incredible culture of a Spanish-speaking country. The Academy At SOAR is a great school for students with ADHD and LD. SOAR allows students to learn and study inside a small group class instruction. The teachers are very experienced that have a wide knowledge of culture, history, literary, mathematics, and college, and life readiness. While learning on campus, students have the opportunity to go on expeditions every 2 weeks. Those expeditions offer experiential learning. Which prepares them for life long skills and an open environment.
The Academy is an amazing school with wide opportunity for all students.

I attended the Academy at SOAR for two years. The school has a very positive and challenging environment for students to persevere through. All of the staff care very dearly for the students and put 100% effort into making them the best people they can be, even if some of the students don't realize it sometimes. The teachers are very down to earth and so easy to approach. With the classrooms being so small students can receive much more help than they would in a standard school. The academic programs are also structured to assist students with learning challenges and succeed at it. The academy does a great job teaching students how to become independent as well as how to work with others. Expeditions present tough obstacles students need to use teamwork and determination to get past, but the places they are taken to are truly spectacular. My times at SOAR weren't the easiest, but they were also some of the most fun memories I will ever have. I truly do reccomend the Academy at SOAR.

SOAR was a life changing experience for our son. The program is designed for ADHD kids and different learners. It also teaches the kids leadership and holistic skills. This school was the most joyful and fulfilling experience for our son - it helped him find his direction in life, feel accepted as a person, grow as a leader and become a compassionate and empathetic young man. He was scheduled to start college this fall, but he deferred due to covid. But we are so proud of him. The staff, instructors and teachers all worked hard and effectively at helping my son achieve success in ALL areas of life and academics. We cannot say enough good things about SOAR, its program, and its staff. While he is thrilled to have graduated, he is sad to leave this wonderful place.
