I attended the Academy for the full 6 years. Due to the small class size, I formed a very strong bond with my classmates, including those who I probably wouldn't have spent time with if I were at a larger school. Having meaningful relationships with people who (on the surface) are very different has continued to be important in my life. The writing and humanities curriculum is especially strong, and although my college studies and career are more science-based, I found that these skills have been essential in every job I have held. The inclusive and bold character of the Academy is still a strong influence on my life 10 years later. It's a truly incredible school!

Our son attends the Academy at Charlemont and we plan on sending our daughter too. The Academy offers a rigorous academic curriculum and a small, close-knit community which allows students a safe and supportive environment to explore who they are as a person. I am constantly amazed at the time and effort the teachers and staff give. The setting is bucolic. The bus routes make it easy to get to. The school has a number of great traditions that actually make going to school fun….imagine that. The Academy at Charlemont is the real deal!
My children both attended the Academy and came out well prepared for college and for life after college. The Academy combines rigorous academics with a strong focus on community and leadership development. Kids at the Academy love school - not something you see in many high schools. The music and arts programs are very strong and the all-school concerts are worth attending just for the quality of the music performed, whether you have a kid there or not.

College acceptance rates are high and I believe that, coming from a small rural school with excellent academics gives kids a step up in applying to top colleges that see relatively few such applicants.
