The Academy is actually an amazing school overall it gets a bad reputation and is thrown under but in reality there is alot of excellent teachers and staff that encourage education and help each student to succeed. Its a small school so most likely you will at least know just about everyone in your grade but the amount of classes you have access to are alit shorter than a standard school due to us sharing the building with Ruth Asawa School of the Arts
So far excellent. My son loves the teachers and students here. My husband and I love the teacher, staff and college prep they offer here too. My son can earn college credits in his senior year at this school too! We came from parochial school which not a great experience for my son.
I entered this school at the beginning of 10th grade. I made friends with people really quickly since they were very welcoming, both staff and students. It's a safe environment when it comes to acceptance. People accept you for who you are. Some of the staff are great, as they teach very well and interact with students in a very casual way without tension. Some others, however, are only in it for the money and refuse to teach well. One of my math teachers refused to take student feedback despite him asking for it and continued to "teach" by simply reading out slides and expecting us to understand from the get-go. It's a nice environment, not the best when it comes with the staff who are in it for the buck.
