From Thayer Academy

Founded in 1877, Thayer Academy is an independent, coed day school for grades 5 through 12 in Braintree, MA. At Thayer, each student is known, connected, and prepared. The schedule is structured so that students don’t have to choose one experience over the other — they can be performers, artists, and athletes while still being active and engaged students. With a student-to-faculty ratio of 6:1 and an average class size of 14, Thayer builds truly collaborative academic relationships. The Upper School offers 85 electives, 16 AP courses, specialized programs of study such as Global Scholars, and 26 varsity sports. Main stage performances include 12 at the Upper School and 11 at the Middle School. Accessible via public transportation, Thayer also runs its own bus routes.

Thayer Academy's mission is to inspire a diverse community of students to moral, intellectual, aesthetic, and physical excellence so that each may rise to honorable achievement and contribute to the common good.

Global Scholars Program

Thayer Academy's Global Scholars Capstone Program promotes greater awareness of and engagement in global issues by combining interdisciplinary academic learning with application to real-world experiences. The program provides the context for active global citizenship, including participation in a variety of curricular and extracurricular activities that demand initiative and responsibility.
