Thales is an alright school. As a student I do not suggest it for other fellow peers. The first year at Thales was fine, although there starts to be patterns in the system. The education is good, I have no complaints about it. Although the environment is terrible. The students, the environment. There is no diversity AT ALL! As one of the only African American students here I do not suggest this school for others.
This obviously isn’t the worst school in the world, but there’s a reason it’s cheaper than most other private schools. The general atmosphere and vibe of the school is terrible. The head admin is rude and condescending to both students and teachers. She talks to students (even high schoolers) like they’re kindergarteners. The teacher turnover rate is crazy, especially for such a small school. There are below-average teachers that have worked here for years, and a lot of amazing teachers who have either left to do greater things or were just thrown out like trash. Admin and teachers have been super picky about dress code, but don’t care if students are wearing their masks properly (or at all). The sports are pretty bad, and the arts are underfunded. The microphones for choir/drama are of questionable quality to say the least. The best thing about this school is the teachers who are actually trying, but some of them just don’t care. If you can, find another school.
At Thales for 4+ years. Few elective choices 1 per year. (art, engr, econ, etc). In HS you will have 4 yrs for foreign language, history, math, science, literature. Sr year - sr seminar with large paper and presentation. If you have special needs (high function autism, ADD, dyslexia, dysgraphia) they may be able to work with you but be careful - have everything in writing before committing to school. Administration will NOT help you with standardized test accommodations even if you have documentation. Honors track - person teaching. A/P is possible - online and on a calendar schedule. Sports is offered. No booster or fundraising which affects program quality. Sometimes student discipline by school doesn’t match the offense (too harsh/too much). Pluses: iPad issued to each student, technology driven classrooms, classical education, typically smaller class sizes and low behavior issues. Areas to improve: sports/coaching, more flexibility with course availability, college counseling.
