Texas Connections Academy at Houston Reviews
Rating 4.45 out of 5 287 reviews
I started attending Texas Connections four years ago. It has been amazing to help me pursue my hockey dreams. I love the flexibility of the classes. It makes it so much easier to get ahead before going out of state for tournaments. When my teammates who attend public classes are stressing over missing assignments and missed days, I can focus on preparing for my games instead. It also helps with college readiness by learning to manage time and assignments on my own. The teachers are always there to help with things you may struggle to understand in the lessons. And they’re always willing to get on a phone call or a zoom call as well. The only thing I would love to see changed is the elective choices. I’d really love to take a photography or interior design class but those haven’t been available yet. Overall, Texas Connections has been great and I’m looking forward to being a Texas Connections graduate next year!
This will be our 3rd year at TCAH and it's been a great experience. Students must learn to be focused, disciplined, and have a desire to learn in order to be successful at TCAH. These are qualities my child will take beyond graduation. Teachers are supportive and available when you need them, but the Learning Coach (LC) is instrumental in the student's experience! TCAH is very clear about this upon enrollment - Believe them! The beginning of my first year as my child's LC was overwhelming. However, after having honest conversations with the teachers, I realized I was doing too much busy work and not tailoring the day based on my child's needs. After I got the hang of it, it was smooth sailing! I have a full-time, work-from-home corporate job and never thought I would have the opportunity to play a key role in my child's education the way I can with TCAH. My child is receiving a quality education and still has time for all the extracurricular activities she wants to do after school.
Texas Connections Academy has been a fantastic experience. The teachers are great and always willing to work with you and provide resources to help you succeed. I have been attending Connections Academy for five years now and it has only improved every year. Additionally, you don't miss out on the high school experience by attending Connections Academy; you interact with your teachers and other students frequently, especially if you regularly attend classes or are a part of a club or student council. The administration is always ready to help you with any technical difficulties, teachers are very aware of safety on field trips, and TCAH greatly encourages a diverse student culture. In addition, classes and deadlines are very flexible, which is very valuable for competitive athletes. Overall, a great school!
