Texas City High School is a place of safety and security. You always know that you can go to a counselor or teacher and report something at it be completely confidential. Nevertheless, TCHS is lacking extremely when it comes to academic funding! All of the money that comes in goes to athletics. Academia and fine arts are struggling while the athletes are sitting pretty with way more money than they need. I mean personalized socks for the football players were not a necessity. And out administrators wonder why our graduating rate is so low.

I attended Texas City High School for half of my freshman year up to now (my junior year) and I can confidently say that this school cares nothing for its students. A majority of teachers here will quit after their first year here and those who stay express how poorly administration treats its teachers. There is only one counselor who truly cares and assists us while the rest frequently mess up schedules (Especially for students who arent taking AP courses or dual credit). For our AP classes that require AP books our school only has 10 and refuses to purchase more. There are teachers who are amazing at what they do and plenty of true geniuses graduate from here (as do at every school) of whom I'm glad to have met, but this school is truly awful.
Texas City High School is a very diverse school. There are plenty of activities/clubs/athletic events to participate in. I am grateful that I have had the opportunity to participate in college classes while attending high school. The community college makes it very affordable for my single mother to pay for. I was able to participate on the volleyball team all 4 years of high school.
I am also impressed with the Career and Technology department. I have had the opportunity to participate in Health Science Program. I have obtained clinical experience at the local hospital and currently have a job internship at a clinic in town. When I graduate from high school I will be a certified nursing assistant. I am greatful for this experience to assist me in making my final decision of becoming a nurse.
