I am currently a senior at Tesla STEM High School and will have spent all four years here. I love this school for several reasons. The small class size makes you feel at home and forms a strong communal bond. In addition, there are so many opportunities available at this school. Through STEM, I have competed in clubs at the national level, interned at Fortune 500 companies, and had the opportunity to publish my research. I will say though, this is a very competitive school, which can be detrimental to one's mental health. However, this competitive nature drives students to be better and to be smarter. The several AP and Honors classes available to our disposal are both interesting and engaging. In addition, the teachers are phenomenal! They are always available for additional support and help. Overall, this school gets a 5 star rating from me!

Very Much So Toxic. The Other Rating's don't lie, Atmosphere is filled with student's too stuck up on grade's and makes having good grade's all that's important. Tesla Stem pressures students to their extent and does not offer as much support to struggling students. Either you're on board and stressed or failing, Usually no in between. Teacher's focus on rigorous schoolwork which does not justify the off-putting amount of stress the student's face daily. Most students are downcasted as the academic pressure outweigh's their social and family life. Tesla Stem sacrifices it's student's integrities for it's own reputation. Diversity is also very limited and feel's out of place when you're not apart of a race.
Nikola Tesla STEM High School is not just a school for self-described "geeks and nerds". There have been plenty of accusations of the school being a factory to generate Microsoft employees, but the stellar English and History departments turn students towards liberal arts degrees at prestigious colleges every year. Going to this school demands an interest in STEM. Science especially - starting sophomore year, there's a heavy emphasis on the scientific method.

STEM's weakness comes in the form of it's extracurriculars. The ASB is disorganized at best, chaotic at worst. I say this from the perspective of running a club that is relatively prominent at other schools and typically granted plenty of money - receiving funding is nearly impossible. The process to do so is difficult and convoluted. Like all schools, getting voted into ASB is a popularity contest, so each year we're dependent on the competency of the most popular students, which isn't always reliable.
