STEM is an extremely challenging but worthwhile school. The school adds lots of rigor to courses that are even known to be easy by pushing students to assess deeper questions and explore solutions. The school also heavily promotes research and in-field experience by providing dozens of internship opportunities (especially to the juniors and seniors) and requiring certain classes to engage in year long student driven projects with which they compete at science fairs (CSRSEF and WSEF). In most events that STEM competes in, the school succeeds and takes home many awards all of which are published in the STEM journal which is released to the public yearly. Because STEM partakes in the items mentioned above, it leaves students with a great resume to propel them through their college search and results in students attending prestigious universities and ultimately prevailing in their dream occupations.

STEM provides a lot of internship, research, and learning opportunities that aren't as prominent at other schools. Most of the teachers are really passionate about the subjects they teach, and are always helpful and willing to answer questions. Even though this is a stem school, it places super low importance on humanities and the arts, so you're not likely to get a holistic education. Despite that, STEM really does have the best opportunities for students interested in science, and it's rigorous enough to prepare students well for college.
Pros: The teachers are well qualified, you are exposed to many things no other school have: access to great resources (engineering tools), and required competitions. The students are very well prepared and while it may seem tedious at times, it pays off and looks great for colleges. The coursework is harder but manageable, you can always take easier classes if needed. If you don't love stem, coming here will be a waste of yourtime. The 11th & 12th grade lab concentrations are amazing.
Cons: This place is very competitive and stressful, cheating is everywhere. It can get very toxic and suffocating with the same people in many classes. If you enjoy socializing and having school spirit, this is NOT the place for you. Also, my grade had many mental health issues like stress and depression. Administration often sweeps big problems under the rug to not mess up their name.
Conclusion: I’m academically well prepared, but the toll on my mental health and self-esteem was not worthit.
