Terre Haute South has its pros and cons. Alumni have moved on to become successful people, including Mr. and Mrs. Science and Math. Our program has a variety of classes and extracurricular activities. South has recently integrated time into the school day by giving students the freedom to choose of where the students get to spend 30 minutes of our day to enjoy school and spend time with friends and learn about our hobbies. For example, my AP Chem teacher does “Pet Club” who gathers donations to give to our local shelter and in return, we are hosting an adoption night for animals to find their new home. That time is also a study hall. Being a part of two sports and AP classes, this time has become essential in teaching students time management skills causing South to be stressful and successful. It would help if students had a better environment. Currently we have a building: a cement block building with minimal windows and all fluorescent lighting. It is familiar as a jail cell.

South Vigo High School has been my home for four years now. I have made many wonderful memories there, from exciting football games to going to prom my freshman year to participating in multiple clubs and volunteer opportunities. At South, there are many passionate teachers who are always devoted to help students achieve their goals, whether it be to pass AP exams or figuring out how to revise college essays until it is as perfect as it can be. In addition, Braves always walk the hallways with smiles on their faces and are ready for a new day of learning. However, I am not a fan of the building and food. The building is old and always has cockroaches. The food is bland and can use more flavor. I like that South hosts exciting events, such as powderpuff games, bonfires and talent shows.
My experience at Terre Haute South high school was very good. I thought that lots of the teachers were always there for the kids, you could open up to them about things that most kids wouldn't want to talk to a teacher about. If you were ever in need of something you could count of the dean, teachers and the other students as well to help out as much as they could. At my time at South we lost a couple of students due to some bad accidents, but our school came together and helped each other through those tough times we came together like a family. I enjoyed my 4 years at terre haute south with friends and going to games and other events I'm sad to leave but ready to move onto new exciting experiences.
