Tenor high school is a low key and low income high school situated in downtown Milwaukee. My experience these past few years has been insightful and full of learning. Both in terms of academics and in life. Because the school is small it makes for a close knit community. It also allows for teachers and students to build relationships. Students are overall more confident when asking for help and more likely to participate in group discussions. The small school size also makes it easy to focus on group discussions rather than the traditional lecture and notes atmosphere. Tenor also helps students prepare for college because seniors take a year at the local community college (for free) instead of a traditional senior year. It is actually the only high school in the state of Wisconsin that offers this program. Overall, Tenor high school is an excellent school because of the small school setting, better teacher-student relationship, and for the academic opportunities it offers.

My experience in Tenor High School wasn’t as great as I thought a genuine high school experience would be. I graduated in the year of 2018. The highest level of math was Algebra 2. Many of my college friends say they were introduced to Calculus in high-school, unfortunately that wasn’t the case in that school. Staff was really friendly but did not have a good system. There were many times where teachers had favoritism and didn’t like many cultures. I spoke spanish because it has always been my first language. They did not allow to speak spanish in that building. If I could I would have never attended that school.
Tenor High School is a great place to be educated in. The teachers and staff are extremely friendly and welcoming. During their senior year, students from Tenor High School attend MATC to earn college credits for free. Tenor's program includes extra-curricular activities, and WIAA and club athletics. This is an amazing place for teenagers to attend and grow in.
