I would change the curriculum to better suite all levels of academics. The school needs to be more structure and also has a high teacher turnover rate in core academics. There is also a high rate of substance abuse among Students. The students also have a high rate of pregnancies. Also the school does not offer any kind of tutor programs for students that are struggling.
Taos High School does have a very good Athletic Program and community support for athletics. The school also does offer dual credit thru University of New Mexico starting during your 11th grade year. It also offers Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA) which offers hands on learning for students interested in medical careers.

The school itself is a great public school with exceptional qualities. It offers great courses and has exceptional teachers teaching them. I mostly liked the school for its academic values and the resources it provided for the students to immerse themselves and complete work they were assigned in class. It has exceptional technological resources ranging from i-Pad and Mac book carts to an entire resource center for tutoring and help for students. However, it had not brought any of these new aspects until my senior year and i feel it would've been beneficial for myself as well as my fellow classmates to have access to a resource center earlier in our high school experiences. It has also barely implemented a new advisory period devised to help us seniors with college readiness and after high school plans. Unfortunately, since it is a new addition to the school, it has not yet proven to be highly effective because of the lack of organization.
My experience at this school was great. I was able to learn a lot from many teachers and the school has plenty of science opportunities. The school has many science class which offer the student a wide variety of class choice based on their preference. I think the school could improve on its math department. The school has low math scores and not good teachers in this department.
