Tamiscal is an independent study high school. The school contains many helpful resources for students who want to attend college. The school benefits those who have schedule conflicts either due to sports or personal life. The administration is helpful and friendly. General classes such as science and mathematics are divided into small group situations. The "core" classes are worked on independently and you meet with your instructor once a week to review all material and classwork. The homework load is a lot, but it basically determines your attendance and grades. You will learn at your own pace and the curriculum requires a lot of self-responsibility.

Tamiscal High School has prepared me for college by giving me the opportunity to practice being independent and in charge of my learning before college. The small classes provide a space for teachers to engage with each student. Following the independent study curriculum has given me an opportunity to take a leadership role in my academics.
I transferred to Tamiscal from redwood high school and I have never loved school more. I like all my teachers and I love the environment there everyone is super kind and I also have learned more than I ever did at redwood high school.
