Tamalpais High School Reviews
Rating 4 out of 5 208 reviews
There are ,many reasons why I love being a student a student at Tamalpais High School, but three reasons stick out to me in particular. First, Tam is one of the few public high schools I know that is privileged to have the beautiful outdoor campus we do. The school is built into a hillside so there are many stairs and outdoor spaces, and all of the academic buildings are spread out and open. Additionally, there are so many green spaces on our campus, like the front lawn, the garden, and our outdoor amphitheater. Another reason why I love Tam is because it offers so many diverse and intriguing courses. There are countless science, math, english, and art classes, as well as varsity and junior varsity athletics teams. Finally, I love the community at Tam. I have heard from friends at other schools about how hard school life is and how competitive the classroom environment is, but I have never felt that at Tam. I have felt loved and supported by almost all of my teachers in my time at Tam
Tam is a welcoming and exciting community to be a part of. I feel that there is really something for everyone here and I have been able to connect with a variety of different people across many of my interests. The teachers are generally very helpful, willing, and good at their jobs. I enjoy the programs and classes available, but the rigor in certain areas is lacking (eg. number of AP classes available). However it is a top tier public school and there are still many options to challenge yourself. Overall the environment at Tam is great and I’m glad I decided to spend my high school career here.
The great thing about Tam High is it blessed with optimal funding, resources, and other significant benefits that many schools do not have the opportunity to engage with. What is unfortunate is the deficit between the school resources, and the application of those benefits so that they may best nourish a diverse group of students and the overall school community. I believe that the access this school has to such a vast array of opportunities to better a community that, at times, suffers from a lack of acceptance for diversity, could be crucial in playing a life-changing role in many of their student's lives. It is unfortunate that these resources are not better utilized, however, I do thing that their sheer opulence allows the school to remain relatively impressive in terms of quality of academics, athletics, and the other things Tam offers its students.
