Tahlequah High School Reviews
Rating 3.53 out of 5 252 reviews
Some absolutely wonderful teachers and staff members that have helped me so much with advancing and thriving, that really care about you. Student body can be challenging at times, especially with changes after the pandemic or tragedies that have occured in the community but adminstration has been doing an incredible job shifting to adress these whilst trying to promoting everyone's health. In this past year I've seen so many wonderful changes, recognizing more student achievment, implementing safety measures, encouragment, teacher appreciation, etc. Mrs. Cloud has been doing an amazing job, and I'm excited to see how it will transform our school down the line.
Life at Tahlequah High-school has been an adventure. The last four years of my life have had me constantly guessing what may happen next. My high-school journey started out chaotic as my freshman year was when covid-19 was running rampant through our town. There was not much aid provided for freshmen and I was put into a remedial class I hadn't needed because I wasn't informed of a placement test we had because I was out sick. The first or second week of school a teacher had yelled at me for asking a question about an assignment that I "should've known" even though I hadn't been there to hear her instructions. I felt incredibly abandoned by my school my for the first two years of high-school, however this year I've felt a little more support from teachers and faculty members as college deadlines approach. I've seen more presentations about what I should be doing to become ready for college which I appreciate. Despite all the negatives I've faced I'm glad to have had the experience.
I have only been going to Tahlequah for a year, however, I feel that the school has more cons than pros. Some pros include the ability to make friends easily and find a community within clubs. On the flip side, there also tends to be a lot of drama that occurs within those friend groups. A lot of people would rather try to fight than resolve issues. It is also a predominantly native, hispanic, and white school, so as a black student it’s easy to feel isolated. I have heard many racial slurs but lacked the ability and resources to do anything about it. The academics at Tahlequah High School aren’t extraordinary, but they aren’t bad either. They have a few AP and honors classes, and those are fairly challenging.
