I just transferred to Sylmar Charter High School this school year and average would be the literal perfect word to describe it. In all honesty, the support given to us students by teachers, counselors, and even the principle at times is really great. There is a con though just like there is to every pro, the support is almost selective. If you ask regular education students they'll tell you that the counselors never help them, that their teachers don't teach and that it sucks. What they mean by "it" is the school but that most definitely isn't true the school is basically split in two, the Magnet side and then the other side. The other side consisting of the special ed, regular ed, some honors classes, and a few quite few AP classes. Other than that discerning difference it's a pretty good school.

High school at first is such a scary new experience, it's like walking into wildlife you don't know who'll attack you. I did like the fact that I met new people, knowing it's hard for me to socialize it was comforting to find new people who became good friends. The environment was okay. Realistically it's never the school that's bad, it's the students that make the school appear awful. Kids in this generation are so unexplainable. It's hard fitting in, in a territory where no one will even give you a chance to fit in. The school has a couple of great teachers that I will always appreciate and even give credit to helping me bring out my academic skills.
Sylmar taught me to open up and be the vibrant person I am today. My Sylmar experience was great. Sophomore year I joined ASB, joining ASB was the best decision I could make. I ended up being the sophomore president started making fundraiser to make money for the class of 2020. Junior year I became the junior president and continued making fundraisers, helped more with paperwork, got to see how school dances work, and many other things. My senior year I ran for ASB president and I won. Being ASB president helped me openup, learn how to talk to adults, be responsible while still showing school spirit, and be respectful to not only adults but to the students. ASB taught me how to work with others, present in front of large crowds and not be afraid, and to take risk. Sylmar Charter High School created so many memories for me to say that my high school experiences was the best experience ever.
