I loved my time at Sweet Home! All of the teachers were very nice and you could tell they genuinely wanted to see you succeed. They always offered extra help during their free periods if you needed it, and many of them even took time out of their day to stay afterschool for extra help. Also, the school does a lot of activities to bring everyone together, such as making t-shirts for all of us or hosting fun little games. Overall, they just want to see everyone getting involved and making the most of their time in high school. They don't want anyone to feel left out or like they don't belong, which I like about this school. In the future, I would hope to see some changes with getting prepared for college and life out of high school. Although they do stuff now, I think it would be nice if they dedicated a class or a program to it so that students feel 100% prepared. Graduating from high school can be a scary experience, but it's a lot easier if you have a solid plan afterwards.
Sweet Home is a very diverse school, teachers are very well educated and seem to have a passion for teaching which is important. A student can recognize if a teacher is checked out, and it creates a bad learning environment. All of the teachers at Sweet Home are focused and happy with their current job. Some of the administrators can be a little strict on things such as dress codes and bathroom rules, but other than that Sweet Home is a great school to be with other nice kids and make friends.
When I first began at Sweet Home, it was a huge transition for me. The school was way larger than my previous school and to top it off, I began in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. I would love to see more activities in the school engaging new students. It was a hard transition for me and I don't want it to be that way for other students. I also feel as though we need some sort of new conflict intervention program as there have been a lot of fights in the school. I feel safe, but I would like to see a more peaceful environment with less conflict. One of the best parts of the school are the teachers. They don't receive enough recognition for the job that they do. Before I felt accepted by other students, I felt accepted by the staff. I am grateful to have met the faculty at Sweet Home and overall I would say that I have had a positive experience there.
