I love my experience here at Suttons Bay! The teachers are amazing and extremely helpful! The student body is diverse and welcoming. My exchange student made a group of friends fast and they have been so kind to her, I’m sure she is loving it. I was also able to find my group that I stick with quickly and they are amazing. This school provides a solid education for its small size and low budget. The sports programs are also really fun and supportive. Although there is definitely some areas to improve there, such as even budgeting but I know that’s difficult so considering that, they still do pretty good. The school itself is kept nice and clean which is good. I can’t speak for the food since I bring my own lunch, but the reviews from my friends have been pretty good. I have absolutely no concerns over the safety of me and my peers. This school is amazing for the area, I would definitely recommend going here!
I graduated in 2017 and I’ve always felt as though Suttons Bay has always had a bad rap in the county. My experience with the school was a tight knit community where the teachers often worked with their students as equals. This allowed for a great education, especially for students who put in the effort needed.
They have an award winning band/choir/theatre program, a highly competitive BPA program and a robotics team that is arguably one of the best in northern Michigan, let alone the county.
There are some rougher edges, but most of them stem from decreasing student population in the area overall.
If you live close to Suttons Bay and have young kids you should send them to Suttons Bay Schools. The next thing you should do is get involved in the community. You won’t regret it.

The last few years have been rough for the school, a change in administration whom not many like. New rules instituted which gives immediate detention for a trady, and have little resources.
