Sunset Ranch Elementary School Reviews
Rating 2 out of 5 3 reviews
My two older kids started at Sunset Ranch when it was a brand new school in a brand new community. My son was part of the very first full graduating class to have started kindergarten and to go all the way to 6th grade. I love all the teachers and their willingess to go above and beyond when the student or family needs something extra. The staff is so friendly and welcoming and ready to help. One important thing for me is that in the 10 years I have been a part of the school with my kids, their teacher turn around is very low. I now have a 2nd grader attending the school and I feel at home and so does he. It is a great school! The PTC is always looking for new opportunities to bring interesting fun learning experiences in for the kids. Science and art are a big deal for both teachers and kids.
Sunset Ranch used to be a good school that had open conversations with parents and the community. What it has become is sad and disheartening. The staff and faculty are dismissive of parents concerns or desires to be involved. Students are bullied, not by other students, but by their teachers. Empty threats are a regular occurrence and often aimed and keeping what happens in the classroom a secret. From the playground to the cafeteria, an authoritative culture communicates to students that they are a pain to have to manage and it would be better if they just kept quiet. There are still a few teachers here that understand the responsibility and joy of teaching, but their hands are tied and they become less effective every day.
Worst school ever. My child was constantly bullied by other kids and there were so many cliques. He says that one time all the 2nd graders got together and bullied this one girl during recess because she was overweight. One of the teachers completely wasted his year. He says he did not learn anything the entire year. They would show him inappropriate films for young children and would make the kids watch them and I did not know anything about that until later. Despite being ranked high, Sunset Ranch Elementary School is one to avoid. Do not go here at any cost. You will regret it just like I and my son did.
