My daughter’s in 5th, Spanish Program and my son’s in 3rd, regular program. In the Spanish program, there is added pressure because they have additional classes that inevitably add to the work load, and they are an additional hour in school. It doesn’t seem like a lot, but when you’re taking about 6 to 11 year olds, it makes a difference. Because my son is in the regular program, and he doesn’t have the language content class, the workload is less. Like in any other school, there are pros and cons, so it’s a matter of figuring out early-on if your child fits the school or Visa versa. I will say, in my experience, I’ve seen a great growth with my daughter’s academics and feel she will excel in any magnet middle she’s accepted into. One thing that is amazing is the diversity of cultures you expose your child to in this school. Overall I am happy to be a part of Sunset and what’s most important to me is that my children are happy and proud to be a part in sunset.
My children and I are really happy and proud to be part of this great school. Its curriculum is diverse and well implemented. The teachers are amazing, are caring, strict, and willing to provide guidance and support to the children individually.
The school staff is welcoming and helpful. I recommend this school.

My daughter is finishing her last year at the school and I have a second child I might pull from the school. Sunset is a excellent school with excellent teachers. It caters to kids that are strong academically with only a handful of teachers capable of polishing a diamond in the rough. We found two of those teachers. My son, as with most boys is active and does not feel successfull there. The school has great facilities for a public school, and a nice campus but the kids outdoor access is limited. I appreciate the whole admistative team. I’ve come to terms that the school is not a one size fits all. There is a decent amount of homework. As a business owners my husband and I found it hard to keep up with homework demands and our children’s extracurricular activities. The language program is amazing, I think very few folks would dispute that. Cultural diversity that’s not a “melting pot”as much as a “buffet table”. If your lucky enough to get in try it.
