Sunrise is terrible! The first year my child attended, they treated him as if he was special ed. I told them that he was not being challenged and it turned into my child having an attitude problem. Seriously? Then last year (his second year there) he was being bullied by a classmate. I told him to tell the teacher and that they would handle it because THAT IS THEIR JOB and nothing was done. The only time they intervened was AFTER this kid stole something from my child and my child pushed him back. My child was punished, not the bully. That SAME bully child accused my son of LITERALLY pulling down his pants and peeing on him. When the administration found out that this bully child was LYING, no one apologized to my child. That is ridiculous. Now this year, some kid kicked him. My child told his teacher and STILL nothing was done. The solution to the problem?? Stick my child in "small group counseling." When they sent the letter home, I did not sign it and it was not returned. My child and I decided together that it was not something he wanted to participate in. He has other activities he is into. Today, my child comes home and tells me that they put him in the class anyway! I will be contacting the Superintendent about this nonsense. This is absolutely ridiculous! The assistant principal, Trina Bruns, is not knowledgeable in any way, shape or form. This school is not a school I chose for my child. As soon as I can get him out of this psychologically abusive environment, I will.
