I appreciate the holistic education I received at Suncoast. I have enjoyed learning from educated teachers that are typically very helpful and provide the resources you need to do well. However, the environment at Suncoast is very competitive, which is encouraged by the staff. Many times students are pitted against each other and their worth is determined by their GPA or test scores. I frequently experience people trying to deem themselves superior to others because of their higher scores. This can be discouraging if you let it bother you. Also, there is a lack of widespread school spirit that is present in other high schools in the district. This is mostly because students are more academically-driven and the intense workload makes it difficult for many to go to sports games throughout the week. Overall, I have enjoyed my experience but I wouldn't recommend it for someone that isn't prepared to do a lot of work and likes school spirit/a fun environment over academic rigor.
Suncoast Community High School is an extremely rigorous school to attend depending on the program you chose to take but regardless of it’s hardships I loved it. The environment is welcoming, the teachers are great, it’s diverse, there’s plenty of activities and clubs to attend, and I’ve made some amazing friends over the past 4 years attending there. As an IB student, I do believe that Suncoast has prepared me enough for college in terms of the various types of assignments that were given, especially when it comes to having to complete research papers. It’s a great school in terms of being prepped for college.
I really appreciate the amount of work Suncoast puts in to make sure their
students are prepared for their future, especially college. Suncoast has a record amount of sending students to Ivy schools and other prestigious institutions throughout the country. From serving at the Naval Academy to working with NASA, Suncoast has taken its student future to a whole other level. I walk through those green gates every morning and I'm so privileged to go to such a prestigious school. The moment I enter, the atmosphere of togetherness and competitiveness overwhelms me. The school provides challenges, but nothing that the amazing teachers won't help you with. From when I first heard about Suncoast, to applying to be a student at this amazing
school I have gained an understanding of how much Suncoast does for its students. While I may have only encountered the surface of the Suncoast
experience as a freshman, I'm looking forward to my next 4 years at this school.
