Sumter High School has been an amazing expirence so far. Sumter High is a school with high academics and a large amount of extra curricular activities to offer. I am apart of two nationwide organizations, and one small student club. I enjoy every part of Sumter High. We have many academic resources such as enviornmental centers, computer labs, research labs, etc. We are considered a 5
A school, so athletics is a huge part of our Gamecock culture. It raises school spirit and connection between our student body. If I could change anything about Sumter High, it would be the amount of janitorial staff we have. Sumter School district cut the number of janitors Sumter High has, so some teacher classroom is not being thoroughly like they're supposed to. According to some of my teachers, janitors only take their classrooms trash out a couple of days out the week.

Sumter High is a very populated school. The teachers are nice (for the most part). They have very good Honors, IB, and AP programs there. The school has a lot of different clubs that students can join and get involved in. Our music and arts program is also very exceptional. I think our school takes a lot of pride in putting in work and performing to best of our ability. The guidance counselors are hands on as well as far as preparing for college. All in all, it is a great school and I enjoyed attending this school.
As a current student heading into the 12th grade, I can say with complete confidence that Sumter is not the worst school in the Sumter School District. Mind you, that is still not saying very much. The District is indebted and in shambles as more and more teachers are leavings their jobs due to horrible work conditions, poor administration, and low wages. The school is grimy and roach trodden and I wish their was more emphasis placed on preparing kids to pay for college and not just to settle for simply getting accepted.
