The Best High School ever.Growing up, I’ve heard adults say, “High school was the best four years of my life!” Because of that, I expected to have a blast when I entered freshman year. However, I didn’t realize high school was the best four years of their lives because they made it the best years of their lives. I didn’t realize that if I also wanted to have the best four years of my life, I needed to do things I actually enjoyed doing.
Even right now, all my classes are extremely rigorous, time consuming, somewhat distasteful and just all around stressful. I definitely haven’t been having the best time of my life these past four years. But I also know people who are in every extracurricular in existence, who are also taking amazing and interactive classes – they seem to be really enjoying their high school experience. While I don’t regret taking the classes I’m taking, I do wish I could have had the chance to make more meaningful memories.

What I liked about Sumter High while in-person school was still in session, was how many interactive school activities there are. There are many clubs offered, hobby-related classes, sports, and events held after school. Due to the pandemic, we're going to be starting online for the first semester. A club I'm currently in named Student Government, we are trying our best to create events or activities that cause minimal to zero contact. No matter the challenge that the school faces, we all, as a team, always attack head-on.
I am in the IB program at our school and it is the only IB program in the county. So, my experiance is limited. I like my teachers. The younger ones in the school overall are pretty chill. The science department is full of monsters accept the gay one. The english department is lonely and depressed. The Scocial Stduies dept. is all white guy sports coaches. They chill. Math is... a mixed bag. The Art/Music dept. is a cult. A fun one though.
Oh, and we have and Enviormental center that's really nice. We also have a career center and it's so cool in there.
The luch ladies and custodians are friendly if you actully acknowlege their existance. The bath rooms suck. Gym stinks (of course) Lunch gets crazy interesting somethimes but, the food is not it Cheif. Their was a lizard infestation once. Found a rat skeliton under the bleachers. Rumor has it, there's a pool on the third floor.
