What I like about sumner is that it’s Been open for many years . Also, that they have a strong alumni. The thing that I would like to see change is that more children come to the school.

I really loved the wrestling team, the boys were great it was almost like a second set of brothers. My coaches were all very supportive no matter what team i was on basketball, track, soccer, volleyball, wrestling. the coaches really cared. I wish I had one more year I could wrestle at Sumner, my coach was just awesome. He taught me everything I knew. Coming in my junior year not knowing anyone. Me joining the wrestling team, being the only girl, I quickly got attention not just from my peers or staff members, but also from people around my community and a local newspaper reporter. My coach trained me well, I ended my season 21-7 wrestling only boys. If i could do again for another year that number would sky rocket. Thanks to my coaches.
My experience was definitely great from the impact of the teachers and students. Being here it definitely open me up to new things like basketball, track, and JROTC Drill Team. Being a team player and playing with my team mates is a memorable experience that I will always enjoy and definitely wouldn't mind repeating it. This school is unique off of the unique history and being a Black historic school and with the winning of sports and the accomplishment and graduating of every student that took the opportunity to step foots on the grounds of Charles E. Sumner.
