Rainier's small population and the implementation of mentor groups helped foster a close knit community and many lifelong friendships. The way that the curriculum is designed allows for students to move ahead in learning material, which benefits students who tend to work faster. The teachers, for the most part, take their time to make sure students are clearly understanding material.
However, the way the curriculum is designed does not suit all students and those who cannot keep up are often left behind. Additionally, since the school is fairly new, the administration is constantly making changes without taking into account what the students want and need.

Summit Rainier is a great school that provides lots of resources and opportunities for students to grow academically and as a person. The mentor program that Summit incorporates was my favorite part of my academic career at Summit Rainier because it allows students to get support in their academic and personal life. Another benefit of attending Summit Rainier was their personalized learning program. This program allowed students to work on any tasks they need to work on and at their own pace. This prepared me for my first year of college, because college students have to be independent and responsible of managing their own time. One thing that Summit Rainier lacks of is sports. The sports program at Summit Rainier is very small and underfunded which takes away from student-athletes that want to excel in both sports and academics. Overall, Summit Rainier is a very academic focused school and offers a lot of support, but is not a school for somebody who is focused on extra activities.
Summit Rainier prides itself of student academics, diversity, and school culture. The faculty are supportive and understanding of students and families. However, you can ask students and they will tell you that the food can be greatly improved. The school itself is a charter and shares the campus with a larger high school, therefore there are few facilities available to students, but the students and staff are always collaborating to provide students with the resources they need to be successful. Students are always encouraged to go to college (100% of seniors were accepted into colleges in previous years) and are required to take a class called "College Readiness," to prepare them. Every year, each grade takes trips to visit colleges allowing students to determine which college they're interested in. There are many parents who are involved in student learning and school meetings. Overall, Summit Rainier prepares students for the future, whatever that may be.
