The academics offered at SHS well-varied and high quality. Free math tutoring was offered after school and teachers are always willing to answer questions. Many of the teachers at SHS are very high quality, however there is a high rate of teacher turnover. I was prepared for college in terms of the academic rigor provided at SHS, but much of the college research and application process has to be done on ones own. There is a large variety of clubs and activities availible at SHS and they rank well at international competitions. I have always felt safe at SHS. The students at the school are highly focused on athletics. Generally, I like the administrative staff at SHS. Cheerleading, gymnastics, and tennis are all common options at high schools that are no longer availible at SHS. I met many great friends there! Recently renovated and expanded.
I enjoy the various clubs and volunteer opportunities. The school itself is very big and has lots of sports. There is lots of classes that can explore your interestest and expand your knowledge through different careers in life; from video production to Theatre tech. which I had the privilege of becoming one of the class leaders for. I helped with many plays, rehearsals, and airband, thanks to teachers and other students. This school has taught me to just be myself and helped me gain confidence when talking with others. Teamwork is also one of the big things I have learned as well, definitely helping me with skills I can use in my future.
Summit High School has relatively competitive academics- IB MYP and Diploma Programme, a few AP's, and several choices for classes. The majority of my teachers are involved and competent. There were a few duds during my time here. Clubs and activities are pretty average- the speech and debate team is very competitive, but other than that, nothing extraordinary. There isn't a ton of school spirit. Most sports are terrible (especially football)- rugby and skiing teams are good. For a public school, food and facilities are excellent.
