Having been a waldorf student my whole life it's hard to compare Summerfield with public schools. I have friends who go to public schools and in comparison I usually get more thinking problem solving work and they frequently get math sheets with fifty problems. I like to work at a slower thoughtful pace and Summerfield allows me to do so. In addition the school is small, I know all the staff, and have good connections with all staff members. The downside is that I find standardized testing more difficult because of the way I learn and work. That being said I'm much better at problem solving than most of those friends who got better SAT scores than I. Some of the specific ratings such as academics I will be putting N/A only because I do not have enough experience with other schools to compare properly.

I have attended Summerfield Waldorf School since freshman year of high school. It is a very small tight community that puts the education and experience of the students first. Students not only learn at a desk inside the classroom, but also take their learning out onto the farm, into the circus tent, and make sense of their lessons through art. The students form bonds with their teachers and learn to respect them. The overall feeling is one that is positive and accepting of a variety of different people and lifestyles. The campus is a good size with a farm and gardens surrounding beautiful buildings.
I spent ten years here, from third grade through to graduation. I had the most idyllic time – from farm classes to oil painting to biology, I thoroughly enjoyed all of my subjects and feel well prepared for my career in art and social change.
