I have been attending SMART since 2016. As a senior, I have been able to see my school grow. Going to SMART, one as a student will receive the utmost resources and support to be successful in anything they want to do after graduating. Teachers and staff make it their goal to get to know and understand every student in order to best support them along their high school journey. When it comes to sports, STRIVE Prep-SMART has become a CHASAA member!! Although there is no football team, students from SMART are welcome to play for Lincoln High School only 5 minutes away. Demographic wise, 97% of the student body is Latino/Mexican. As a senior, there are countless opportunities to receive help when it comes to college admissions. There is a "college corner" where one can just go and talk to our college readiness counselors about anything college related of not. Overall, if I were to have the ability to go to any high school, I would choose SMART again in a heartbeat.

SMART, the first high school the strive organization has made, yet it's poorer than the sister school they made after the original. The school is small and shared with a middle school, making it even smaller. Funding is poor too, literally, as field trips are close to none, food is usually the same pizza from papa johns, and not enough funding for the same amount of classes other high schools would have. This includes afterschool programs as well.
But with this storm does come a rainbow as the teachers and staff. The teachers and staff go far beyond the call of duty, giving their all for their students. This includes their money too, teachers and coaches work and give much more than the students even are aware of, and the coaches' activities are truly amazing, after school activities such as the speech and debate team, the softball team, the volleyball team, and the soccer team. There is also a strong community spirit among many, making the school stronger than it seems.
Attending Strive Prep - Smart Academy has been one of the biggest reasons for my growth as a student and person. Smart has helped me achieve my dreams and follow a path that's right for me. My teachers and classmates helped me become such a great person and scholar, always pushing me to do better and encouraging me to be the best person I can every day. I have built such great day to day relationships here and am glad to have grown up with such great influences impacting mine and every other student at Smart.
