Street Academy is a caring, safe environment where the staff goes to unusual lengths to involve parents and community. Students have the opportunity to do interesting electives and internships, and the classes are very small compared to other high schools. Teachers get to know students and genuinely care about them.

I attended street academy for my whole 4 years of highschool and I can say overall it was good. The school is small which is great if you want a school with hands on teachers and staff and that will be able to provide a one on one teaching and guidance. We always had great assemblies and events, and great programs such as electives, some where the students would be involved in helping the community and things. The only thing they don't really have is the whol highschool experience like big schools such as homecoming, dances, grad night/senior trip, and things like that. Sometimes they may have it but it would be something small and nothing like a regular highschool so if you want the whol highschool experience street isn't the place for you. But it is definitely the place for kids who may have messed up in a big highschool to get all their credits together. Or if you just want to attend a small, chill highschool.
All of the extracurricular activities I have been involved in have addressed world issues and ways to approach them. For example, an extra curricular activity that is available at my school is called BAY-Peace, where we address large political issues that effect minorities. These problems include government spending issues, racism, sexism, and other controversy issues.
