I am a proud upcoming senior and a currently homeless, yet hard-working student at Stranahan High School. The teachers have helped me build my confidence and given that extra push to be not only academically successful, but a leader. This past year, I've been accepted into their National Honors society, elected Junior Class President, re-elected Senior Class President & and a mentor of their Mentoring Tomorrow's Leaders organization by being recognized for my diligence and hard-work inside and outside of school. However, I couldn't have done it without the wonderful and passionate teachers and guidance counselors who have never hesitated to make sure that I'm on track. Living 30 minutes away from my school to take the bus at 6:00 A.M, I can honestly say that being enrolled in the medical magnet program has made it definitely worth it; as a student who aspires to have a career in the medical field, it has aided me in deciding whether my dream of being a nurse is right for me!

During my 4 years of high school at Stranahan, I have seen both good and bad things. Good being the acceptance among students to the diverse backgrounds and cultures of everyone. However, there are also many things that Stranahan could improve on. Students often complain about the poor facilities open to them. The quality of work done on bathrooms and classrooms should be evaluated to ensure students are not exposed to health risks which are often a cause of unsanitary conditions. Furthermore, staff should be reevaluated. Many teachers and administrative staff does not work for the benefit of the school. It is often the reason for poor and inefficient practices. Although I am grateful for having the chance to receive an education, there are many ways in which Stranahan can become a better school and ensure future students do not experience the same issues current students are facing.
I would like to see change of my high school is better food at Lunch some of the food desperately need improvement. Sometimes the school do need be more organized in and need to run events or the policies better. Also Stranahan High School does need financial assistance since the budget is in shambles. Despite those complaints, this school allowed to create wonderful friendships and people I’m grateful that I met. Also there are classes I did enjoyed such as Art or English class which I’m allowed to express myself and I love Literature and Art which makes me think and stimulate my imagination. Some of the teachers make me laugh (not in a condescending way.) Besides that some of the teachers I I have know and in the past encouraged to express my personal opinions or open up in general. Overall, while there are flaws in the school I have many great memories in my school.
