The STEM school of Chattanooga is a great school! I love this school because it has taught me time management, self-accountability, and so many other useful life skills. This school has taught me how to reach my full potential and push further. At this school, I have been given opportunities to work with the community and add details to my portfolio that I wouldn't have gotten at any other school. The only change that I would like to see in the future is more interaction between the upper and lower classmen.

Oh yeah, the school's good and all, until you meet the children who worship the Ladder god. Yep, and then there's that one kid who leaves campus in the middle of class and comes back with Burger King. Oh and there's this one teacher who tells you he'll help you at lunch, but disappears when lunch starts, comes back when class starts again, and tells you to come back tomorrow, where they'll repeat their tactic. And if you thinks that's bad, just wait until you get the teachers who are over 50 years old, but try to be cool like these teens!
At first, the school itself was very different from any other that I had attended. It has many elements that allows for more independence and self-advocating. The school runs this way to incorporate their 3 main teaching tenets: Collaboration, Critical Thinking, and Innovation. These 3 tenets allow me as a student to expand my thinking beyond the classroom. We often reach out to our community and partner with local organizations to help design, create, and/or build any needed/wanted solutions or products. These partnering projects are centered around Project Based Learning (PBL’s). As students, we are tasked with a new PBL every quarter from ninth through 11th grade. 12th grade however is when we participated in the Surge Start-Up Business Competition which is also a great opportunity in itself.
