It was overall a good experience. I wish staff listened to student input more. Covid messed up my chances of a normal school experience though.
The teachers are very nice. They care about their students and want them to succeed. There are many programs that students can participate in including multiple clubs and bands.
Most of the teachers were phenomenal. The hands on experience was the most integrative, particularly in the agriculture department.
The English and most of the math teachers were not good. Their current science teachers are not great either.
I like the teachers, they were super sweet and very helpful. I didn't like how a lot of the students treated eachother but, that's something a school can only do so much about before it's out of their reach. There's a lot of great opportunities offered at Stanwood Highschool.
Stanwood High school is an overall good school. However, there is very little diversity and the academics are only challenging if you take an AP or honors class. The regular classes aren’t very challenging. The staff and administrators are really good. They help you solve problems while making you feel comfortable. The parking was horrendous and it was not enjoyable to wake up and have to deal with that. Fortunately, we are moving into a new school this upcoming school year, so hopefully that will change.
I like the fact that they are so open about conflicts going on around school and the opportunities they provide for help to these issues. I like that my teachers seem very comfortable with their students, it helps us personally to learn better. I do hope that in the future they would have more patience with students especially ones who just really want to learn.
Most of the teachers at Stanwood are very caring and want the best for their students. I wish to see the math department improve. Many students struggle with math and with a better department, those students can improve their learning. It is a safe school with many ways to get involved through sports and clubs. There is a good selection of classes for students to take as well such as sign language, glass art, floriculture, and more.
I am very involved in Stanwood High School through sports, clubs, and student government. I am this involved with my school for two reasons: I love the people in it, and I know the general culture and community can be improved. Stanwood's people are both my favorite and least favorite part of my school because they are what make me love it, but also what holds it back from allowing others to love it.
Stanwood High School is located in a very small, farm town. It's in a community where everybody knows everybody. The staff and administration can be best described as poor. They are not exactly in the job to help benefit the students. The education that can be learned there is also not very good. Although there are negatives aspects, I believe that the school is in for some serious changes due to the fact that it will be remodeled here shortly and the staff will be made much better.
The Class sizes are generally big and the teachers aren't the best but the AP and advanced classes are pretty good.
Stanwood HS was a pretty average school. They started working on renovations after I graduated but while I was there, most of the campus was outdoors like a college campus might be, which was a terrible idea for a school in WA, where it rains 2/3 of the year.
Stanwood High Schools over all environment needs to change. I did not feel welcomed or supported there. If you want students to succeed life them up.
School was okay but I was generally bored and under-stimulated. I enjoyed some of the teachers I had. The AP and CP classes were good options for students who needed more out of school than others but I still found myself bored in them
I'd like to see more art programs within the school, as they cut many while I attended there. The teachers were amazing, they were very proactive with their students. The school advertised clubs and sports very well. All in all was a pretty good school.
I was able to take advantage of all high school had to offer. I played sports, I was active in Key club and I was an active member with our FFA
My two siblings and I all went through Stanwood High School. My brother has motor development issues that required an individualized education plan, and the faculty were really helpful in creating and enforcing that plan. They understood that he often needed extra time to work at his own pace, and individual teachers were often accommodating. After heavy convincing, they also allowed me to skip lower level freshman classes that wouldn't have been challenging or worth my time as a student. However, unless you are in AP or Honors classes, teachers can be really hit-or-miss.
