Amazing, but difficult, experience! Stanton College Preparatory School is an academically renowned public high school in Jacksonville, Florida. The school's history dates to the 1860s when it was begun as an elementary school serving the African-American population under the then-segregated education system. It now serves secondary students within the Duval County Public Schools of Duval County, Florida. The school offers special curricula which include Honors courses, Advanced Placement, and International Baccalaureate courses.

My three years at Stanton College Preparatory have been increasingly challenging, but also a blast! There are so many academic opportunities provided here outside of the AP and IB curriculum, such as the NACLO qualifying examinations, and a multiple successful sports teams. The high level of student involvement is definitely visible, even when extracurriculars aren't in session. The population is made up of high-achieving, motivated students, and while that definitely increases academic pressure between peers, it also promotes success and the development of strong time management and grit.
Stanton College Prep is a very good school! Everything adds to a great high school experience along with stellar academics (like pep rallies, spirit weeks, football games, musicals, etc). The only thing I could complain about at Stanton are a very small amount of teachers that are just not that great (only about 10 in the whole school). All the core classes you take at Stanton are AP’s or accelerated, and can be very challenging to learn, and I feel as if some of the teachers are not qualified to teach it. But MOST teachers do an amazing job and make learning fun! Overall, it’s a great school!
