"Stanton is not for everyone." These are the words of some counselors apart of our truly amazing guidance department. I very much agree after almost four years of attending and Stanton wasn't for me before I even started. This school is in the top 10 for high school academics in the united states and is extremely rigorous on it's students because of this. This rigor is an attempt at college readiness. I am not in college yet. I cannot yet claim whether the school has succeeded. However, if you support any institution that does nothing to eradicate the current flaws of our American Education system, would support an administration that abuses its power and believes you are the type of person that can handle the pressure Stanton puts on students, then this school is the place for you! But just as Stanton isn't right for everyone, it is right for some people. Maybe you are one of those people.

Amazing, but difficult, experience! Stanton College Preparatory School is an academically renowned public high school in Jacksonville, Florida. The school's history dates to the 1860s when it was begun as an elementary school serving the African-American population under the then-segregated education system. It now serves secondary students within the Duval County Public Schools of Duval County, Florida. The school offers special curricula which include Honors courses, Advanced Placement, and International Baccalaureate courses.
Stanton is a difficult and challenging school which has earned its accreditation through the tireless work of the teachers and their efforts in communicating and compromising with students. As a former student I can personally attest to the passion with which many of the teachers guide and assist their students in the classroom. Stanton's largest issue comes in the form of the administration. There is a concerning misguidance in attention directed towards trivial matters such as dress code and tardies leading to an overwhelmingly passive attitude towards serious issues such as bullying. I have said this time and time again, the administration is not what has earned Stanton its prestige, it is the students who have created a safe environment for each other and the several teachers who try their best to conserve the sanity of their stressed out pupils.
