St. Thomas School Reviews
1. Community: My child is excited to go to school. A great deal of that excitement is because there is such a strong sense of community. Whether or not a teacher has had your child in their classroom, they know your child. Each morning begins with Chapel, a time for the entire school to come together and discuss different topics ranging from character-development to world religions.
2. Celebration and Exploration: Different cultures and holidays are celebrated and explored, which not only creates understanding but also an awareness of what it means to be a global citizen. For my family, this is very important.
3. Character Development: While the academic curriculum is excellent, we wanted a place that looks to develop the whole child. This is done in a variety of ways, through continuous public speaking opportunities to discussing what it means to be your authentic self.
I could go on....
One of the things that my family has really enjoyed has been the community. I didn’t think much about it when we applied, but I find a lot of like-minded families here. For example, so many who care about a balanced approach to education: high academics standards but also having a rich social-emotional curriculum. We have made such wonderful friends, and I am so thankful for that- especially over the past 3 years during covid, remote learning and getting back to school.
Where St Thomas School has excelled in particular with our children is developing their leadership skills - in 7th and 8th Grade there is a dedicated class on leadership.
We have been happy with the school in developing the whole child - not only in academics but our children's understanding of the world around the, their intellectual curiosity and preparing our children for their bright futures.
